Scoliosis

SCOLIOSIS

Scoliosis is a condition where the spine curves sideways, either in the configuration of an ‘S’ or a ‘C’. This condition usually begins during the adolescent phase of frequent growth spurts. Scoliosis affects both the structure and the function of the spine.

Scoliosis can be treated, but it can never be cured. The traditional treatment is using a brace during the adolescent years to keep the curvature to a minimum. Scoliosis can take a very mild form or it can be quite severe. When it is mild, there won’t be any progress in the degree of curvature. More serious cases can get worse through time.

Your scoliosis should be diagnosed by a medical doctor before you pursue chiropractic treatment. For more information about your Scoliosis chiropractic treatment, contact Dr. James Olshové.

What Can You Expect from Scoliosis Treatment?

When you come to a chiropractor for treatment of your scoliosis, you can expect results in several areas. You will see a reduction in your pain and a decrease in the level of inflammation. You will have more flexibility and improved range of motion. You will have improved posture and reduced pressure.

Since chiropractic treatments involve adjustments to the spine, your treatment will focus on the repositioning of the spinal joints. The adjustments will be gentle as your chiropractor does not want to traumatize the affected areas. Exercises and massage will also be recommended.
